'Robert Suilerman, abandoned at birth and abused in care, tries to come to terms with being young and black in Toxteth.'

The publication of this fictional, autobiographical novel in 1996 caused quite a stir. Its launch in Liverpool had to be abandoned as some of it's characters felt they were too readily identifiable.
